An old pain relief standby still as effective as ever
Q: I am a long-time subscriber to your newsletter, but I can’t recall that you’ve written anything on prolotherapy over the years. I know these treatments have worked well for me, and I was wondering what your opinion on it is.
Dr. Wright: I actually wrote about prolotherapy treatment in the November 1994 issue of Nutrition & Healing. Unfortunately, issues that “old” aren’t available in our online archives. But you’re right — prolotherapy is an excellent treatment for pain, and it’s important for readers to be aware that it’s an option.
Prolotherapy is a very effective nonsurgical injection treatment for many cases of back and joint pain, especially when the pain originates from an injury. I’ve seen people who have suffered with pain for more than 20 years become completely pain-free after a series of prolotherapy injections.
For those of you who may not be familiar with it, you can read more about this treatment by visiting www.prolotherapy.com. The website of the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine (www.aaomed.org) also offers a great deal of useful information on this effective pain-relieving technique.
