Ahead of her time
Q: I was skimming through some books in the health section of the bookstore the other day and came across a few references to Adelle Davis. Can you tell me more about her?
Dr. Wright: Adelle Davis was one of the pioneers of the nutrition movement back in the 1930s and 40s. She was one of the first to believe that many illnesses are caused by specific vitamin, mineral, and nutrient deficiencies. Davis did extensive research and wrote books on how to properly use supplementation to treat various problems in the body.
It was her belief in the freedom of choice in nutrition that led us to the knowledge we have now, which allows us to make informed decisions about our health.
